The Beijing social enterprise Roundabout has closed its popular charity retail store on Yuyang Xilu, as of November 15. The closure was announced on Monday, to the surprise of Shunyi residents.
“We are moving to new premises and presently, stock taking and preparing for our relocation,” Mary Kate Brown from Roundabout told beijingkids. “Sales are continuing at the Community Centre at Shine Hills & we will confirm the new address within a week.”
The shop sold a huge range of donated items, from clothing, toys and books, to household items and furniture. All the proceeds went to support Roundabout’s valuable work with a range of good causes.
Roundabout’s other buildings and activities are unaffected. They are continuing to receive donations, and are particularly in need of children’s books in English and Chinese. Donations can be made at the Community Centre, Shuangjing Winter Fair on Saturday November 18, or the Hong Kong International Clinic’s Family Day on the afternoon of Sunday November 26.
