It can be hard finding a worthwhile opportunity to expose your children to high-quality live music, in a venue that is also age-appropriate. This concert is an excellent opportunity to do just that as the LMT Connection return to Beijing and play a show this Thursday (May 3) at the Minsheng Art Museum (in 798).
For the uninitiated, the LMT Connection is a Canadian soul trio that has been together since 1989, doing their best to blend R&B, funk, and jazz to please audiences around the world. In their 28 years, they’ve recorded six albums, played over 6,000 shows including 12 tours in Europe (2003-2012), and have had four tours of China (2013-2017). They’ve also shared a stage with musical luminaries like BB King, The Temptations, the Spinners, Al Green, and Alex Lifeson of Rush, just to name a few.
We were lucky to have caught them at one of their DDC shows a couple of years back and have to say it was a fantastic show. We can still remember the playful energy of the trio, led by Leroy Emmanuel, as they worked through their repertoire of delicious cover songs but also some originals that had everyone in the place dancing.
Their Thursday night show starts at 7:30, which is definitely a reasonable time for most families to funk up their evening with some great live music. Tickets will set you back RMB 120, which might seem steep, but it’s the price you need to pay to experience a very delicious slice of solid gold, musical history.
