Hot summer weather is on the way after the windy weather, with highs of more than 35 degrees expected! Nothing’s better than jumping into the water to cool down on sweltering days. Here we have an updated roundup of our favorite swimming pools including indoor pools, outdoor pools, and clubs geared towards kids.
Indoor pools
Happy Magic Water Cube Park
The former site of the 2008 Olympic water sport competitions, the Water Cube has since been transformed into a water playground with a wave pool, slides, and various entertainment facilities.

Happy Family Time Parent-Child Swimming
This pool holds open swim sessions at scheduled time slots every day, primarily on weekend afternoons. Parents can swim with their toddlers, and kids can practice their new skills and show mom and dad what they’ve learned in swim lessons. You can take pictures with your kids underwater and organize birthday parties here.

Ditan Swimming Pool
Conveniently located northwest of Ditan Park, this swimming pool is particularly popular for its modern facilities and clean environment.
RMB 40 (adults), RMB 20 (children under 1.4m), RMB 20 (ages 60+). 8.30am-3.30pm 6.30-10pm (weekdays); Noon-10pm (weekends). Ditan Gymnasium, 116 Andingmenwai Street, Dongcheng District (6421 4415).
Sino-Japanese Friendship Center (21st Century Theater)
This 50m pool is located in the 21st Century Hotel. Also has a newly-opened gym with yoga and dance classes. The water here is filtered using a mild salt solution, eliminating chlorine irritation and leaving no distinct smell. Bathing caps are mandatory for all swimmers.

Outdoor Pools
Tuanjiehu Park
The swimming pool in Tuanjiehu Park is rather small compared to others, but its convenient location near Sanlitun makes it a standby for many families living nearby. This year they will open after the middle of June and the price will be lower than last year.

Qingnianhu Park
Qingnianhu Park boasts a pleasant outdoor pool with slides for kids. There isn’t much shade, so be sure to bring sun protection. There are also paddle boats and other entertainment options nearby. The water facilities are filtered 24 hours a day.
