International school teachers in the final year of their contracts will already be on the look out for opportunities, and thinking about the next stage of their careers. This weekend one of the city’s top schools will offer them a chance to find out if a job there might be the right move for them. Beijing International Bilingual Academy (BIBA) is holding its second recruitment fair this Saturday (October 19), following the success of last year’s event.
“It will most likely be an annual event,” said Andrew Johnson, HR Manager at the school, “as the response to BIBA has proven positive.”
We asked why BIBA takes this particular approach to recruitment.
“BIBA offers a wide spectrum of employment opportunities school-wide,” Johnson said. “We hold the BIBA recruitment fair to tap into the pool of teachers that are already here in Beijing and the nearby cities, giving them the opportunity to explore should they need a chance of growth in their careers.”
He told us that the event offers a chance for prospective teachers to find out more about the school, and what it can offer them as well as its students.
“They will get a change to meet with all the principals from various departments of our three campuses: Beijing, Tianjin, and Guiyang,” he said. “In a face-to-face interview as compared to a WeChat or Skype video interview, candidates will be able to make a personal impression. Candidates attending the fair will also get the chance to tour the school’s facilities. The fair can also be a meeting point where educators can make connections with other educators and share experiences.”
Johnson said BIBA is looking for “passionate educators interested in playing a fundamental part in the successful lives of the students.”
“Our vision,” he said, “is to be the model for developing internationally-minded bilingual ambassadors, who will promote inter-cultural understanding, respect and integration in a dynamic global community. Our campuses are totally family-friendly, with a very diverse faculty from different nationalities, cultures and backgrounds, all sheltered under one umbrella. Our educators and administrators are all driven by the sole desire to exploit our students’ potentials though innovation, knowledge and skills. Therefore, educators who share the same vision, uphold the same values, are traits we look for amongst the candidates.”
And he promises that the successful candidates will be rewarded with opportunities for growth, as well as a supportive workplace.
“We value all our educators and administrators, and will invest in their welfare, as well as training and career growth. We provide competitive and attractive salaries and benefits package to our staff. We recognize our responsibility to society and to the environment, and will develop policies and practices that make a real difference. BIBA wishes to maintain long-lasting work relationships with the faculty by recognizing those individuals who are hardworking and rigorous, who possess respect and build lasting relationships. Therefore, incentives like longevity bonuses, staff parties, and awards are taken seriously here at BIBA!”
