A new show coming to Beijing promises to introduce kids to the world of music through an engaging story about animals.
In Der Elefantenpups: Ein Tierischer Geheimplan (The Animals’ Secret Plan) a panda called Mei Yue arrives at a zoo, but she is homesick for China. The other animals come up with a plan to cheer her up by playing songs for her.
Ein Tierischer Geheimplan is the second book in the Elefantenpups series, created by Heidi Leenen. Leenen is a German schoolteacher who founded “Das mobile MusikAtelier,” a school for early musical education. This experience led her to write Direktor Froehlich and the Zoo Animals, in which the creatures at a zoo learn to play musical instruments. The book was accompanied by a CD of music composed by jazz musician Sebastian Laverny, and was a huge hit in Germany.
The show is performed in Chinese.
