It’s no shock that around Halloween time every year restaurants cook up all sorts of creepy looking desserts and try to outdo each other in creativity. From cakes in the shape of brains to cookies in the form of severed fingers, creepy desserts seem to be a popular choice among chefs.
Then there’s Feast (Food by East). They’ve always been known for their kid-friendly brunches (especially around the holidays) but this Halloween, we’re not sure what to think. While there are still the family-friendly activities for kids including the candy stations, costumes, and festive decor, they’ve served up some creepy-crawlies – literally.
They’re not just messing around with desserts that look like insects straight out of Freddy Kruger’s nightmares, they’ve brought out the real thing. Chef Steve Zhang has cooked up the creepy-crawlies and laid them out right on the buffet table. Dozens of real scorpions, crickets, silk worms larvae, and giant centipedes are yours for the taking – if you dare!
It’s safe to say that Feast has officially upped the creepy game and created a buffet brunch that’s not for the faint of heart. For those who missed out on their spread of creepy-crawlies this past Sunday, Feast is doing a repeat this Thursday for dinner and Sunday for brunch.
