About five years ago, a former Feast (Food by East) restaurant manager wanted to share some of his family recipes from the Philippines with the Beijing foodie community, and the first Filipino Food Week at East Hotel was born. Since then it’s become an annual success that Filipino food lovers all over the city look forward to in excitement.
This year’s Filipino Food Week at Feast is from November 29 – December 6 and comes with a special twist. The local Filipino community in Beijing, Kusina ni Kabayan (KnK) has shared some of their mouthwatering recipes from home and is throwing a Christmas party on November 30 to celebrate the holiday season, great food, and the launch of their Pinoy cookbook!
Krismas sa Pinas on November 30 is an all-day party where you fully immerse yourself in Filipino culture. From 3pm – 7pm enjoy a day of Christmas spirit as you listen to a Pinoy band sing Christmas music all day long.
Tickets to Krismas sa Pinas is available for purchase online for RMB 50 by scanning the QR in the poster. Proceeds from Krismas sa Pinas will go to the Daoidao Elementary School in the Philippines.
As an extra perk, anyone who attends Krismas sa Pinas will receive a 20 percent discount to dine at Filipino Food Week at Feast until December 6.
Many Filipino expats came together to share their favorite hometown recipes for this. Founder of Kusina ni Kabayan (KnK) Perlita Pengson is hopeful that the launch of the book will spark curiosity about Filipino culture through food.
“We are hoping that this project will arouse the curiosity of many about the Philippines and our culture through food. Since this project is also for charity, we encourage everyone to get into the habit of learning how to make our cuisine”.
All ages. November 30 from 3-7pm.
