Education is important, there’s no doubt about that. In the latest data provided by International Schools Database, the price of school tuition speaks for itself.
China ranked first as the country with the most expensive schools anywhere in the world. Asia, in general, leans more towards the expensive side with only Phnom Penh, Cambodia having an international school that charges less than around RMB 14,000 a year. Beijing and Shanghai, on the other hand, are leading the chart with the most expensive schools in the world at around RMB 290,000+ and RMB 273,000+ per year.
In Beijing, the tuition difference between the cheapest and the most expensive schools is over RMB 230,000, which goes to show the vast variety of schools and a wide spectrum of income of the parents. The desire to give your children the best of everything has made education one of the most profitable industries, with an estimated value of RMB 2.9 trillion by 2020. That’s a whole lot of money considering that International School of Beijing (ISB), the city’s oldest international school, was founded in 1980.
But it’s not just the demand for international education as many other professional centers like Trilogy Education have, what’s driving up the tuition prices. Beijing’s international schools are bringing their A-game and giving parents their money’s worth by bringing in top educators from around the world and continuously providing them with up-to-date training and materials they need for success and also making state-of-the-art technology and resources available at the children’s fingertips.
