Home is where the heart is and for many of us reading this blog, Beijing is where we call home. But it wasn’t always like this. At one time, most of us were wide-eyed tourists still figuring out the ins and outs of this city. It took a while to figure it all out, but now, we’re the tour guides to Beijing for our visiting family, friends, and business associates.
Over the years there have been a few “go-to” names of people and places that we take visitors when they visit.
The Beijinger, in conjunction with the Beijing Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau, is seeking expatriates who have “made a difference” in the life of visitors to Beijing.
Think of:
- The restaurateurs that have made Beijing an international culinary capital
- The hoteliers whose boutique hotels give our visitors one-of-a-kind experiences
- Tour guides that give us unique and exceptional experiences in the city
- Key Opinion Leaders who have, via their voice (be it in mainstream media, blogs, social media channels, videos, or podcasts) gave the world insight into life in Beijing.
- Service providers that have, in countless ways, made life easy for visitors in the capital.
Though there are countless local Chinese that have helped literally millions of tourists here, the tourism bureau has specifically designed this award to call out the role that expatriates have played.
We will be profiling these “Great Wall Heroes” in the Beijinger before selecting five winners who will be feted at an awards ceremony in the spring along with several foreign Key Opinion Leaders visiting the city.
Do you know someone who fits the bill?
Please send us their name and a sentence or two of why you think they deserve this honor to info@truerun.com and we’ll put them on the shortlist of candidates for the award.
