“Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, Bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens, Brown paper, packages tied up with strings, These are a few of my favorite things. ”
Call me an eccentric, but the holidays remind me of this ‘Sound of Music’ song. Nothing more so than being around the kids at the British School of Beijing, Shunyi (BSB Shunyi), as they ushered in the season of cheer and merriment last Saturday (Dec 7), with their annual Christmas Bazaar.
Santa was ready to spread cheer and fun.
Not least because no matter where you turned there were amazing wares to be bought by prospective families, but also interactive games were abound for the entire family. Ice cream, despite the freezing temperatures outside, made for a welcome treat for the kids, who also had a bouncy castle within the warmth of the main school building.
The school choir performed, under the guidance of their capable teachers, and after all was said and done, many of the parents and students went home with amazing gifts won from a school raffle draw. It was an unmistakable spirit of true community and the cheer which Christmas brings. Happy kids and truly grateful parents. Those are also some of my favorite things.
