It is with a very heavy heart that we join the Beijing City International School (BCIS) community in mourning the loss of their wonderful teacher, Ms. Bre Ogwang.

“It is with deep regret that we inform you about a recent, unexpected death in our school community. Ms Bre Ogwang, beloved Grade 8 advisor, Middle School English teacher, basketball coach, Student Council leader, colleague, friend, wife and daughter passed away after a sudden medical emergency. Ms Bre was loved by so many for the passion she brought to her teaching and her coaching. During her time at BCIS, Ms Bre’s vivacious and vibrant personality brought an energy to all in our school and those who worked with her. We offer our sincere condolences to Ms Bre’s family.”
ShelbyLa’bre Ogwang, also known as “Bre,” came to Beijing from the United States. She grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, but traveled the states as she played competitive volleyball and basketball. She graduated in 2014 from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Communications, and Social Work, along with obtaining a 6-12 Teaching Certificate.
Bre lived in China since 2015 and taught from the Collegiate level down to kindergarten. After a great year in a small town, she decided to move to Beijing to work at an International Kindergarten and enjoy the city life.
