Earlier tonight (Aug 11) around 7.30pm the Beijing Municipal Flood Prevention Office sent out a message advising Beijing’s residents to take the necessary precautions of tomorrow’s expected downpour.
The message translates to: “The Beijing Municipal Flood Prevention Office suggested: on the 12th, there will be heavy rain in our city. It is suggested that all units should work flexibly and work from home. It is suggested that citizens should reduce their travel, park vehicles, and pay attention to safety, so as to avoid going to mountains, rivers, and dangerous areas.”
It’s time to entertain the kids at home because even if you’re in an area where streets are not likely to flood, there’s not going to be much going on in the city. Eleven of the city’s parks have already announced that they’ll be closed tomorrow and places like Badaling Great Wall have also announced that it won’t be receiving visitors; not that anyone in their right mind would want to attempt a hike during a downpour anyway.
