Students all over Beijing are preparing to go back to school at the end of August and early September. Tourism in Beijing is back up again, there are no more social distancing restrictions at restaurants, and Beijing seems like it’s getting back to normal.
But before the shopping spree starts for new back to school clothes, keep in mind that while it’s no longer mandatory to wear masks in public venues in Beijing, when it comes to the health and safety of students, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission is extra strict and not taking any measures lightly.
As Xinhua news reported, on Friday Beijing Municipal Education Commission issued a notice that students and school staff will need to wear masks while on campus. The only times when masks are permitted to come off is when they’re outdoors with no crowds or contacts around. The mask requirement does not apply to kids in kindergarten but will apply to all teachers and staff on campus.
The Commission also said that students in elementary and middle schools will need to stagger their attendance and keep a distance of at least one meter apart.
