Planning some day trips with the family to all the cool places in Beijing that you’ve wanted to see but never made time for? Before you get too attached to your plans, this year’s Golden Week is accompanied by some road closures smack dab in the center of the city.
The Beijing Traffic Management Bureau issued a notice yesterday that from Oct 1 – 8 some roads in the city will be heavily regulated and the roads on both the east and west sides of Tiananmen Square will be closed to all motor vehicles except those with special permits. If you’re planning on visiting the area on bike, expect a detour to Zhengyi Road and the West People’s Great Hall Road.
From Oct 1 to 8 from 8am to 7pm, Nanxin Village Street (including Hongfeng Road to Xingshang South Road) will be restricting cars driving from east to west. No restrictions regarding bikes were mentioned.
