Yesterday, October 25, was Senior’s Day in China, a holiday that has been celebrated on Double Ninth Day (the ninth day of the ninth lunar month, traditionally known as Chongyang Festival) since around 1989. Unfortunately, one family learned their grandfather went missing the morning before, having “walked out of the residential community of Dongli of Guangzhuang Building Materials Research Institute, Chaoyang District, Beijing.” See the map below for the specific location.
According to the poster circulated on WeChat by 51 Give, an organization dedicated to social responsibility, the missing senior is 90 years old and is 182 cm tall. He has Alzheimer’s, so will likely be confused about where he is. If you have any information regarding the senior’s whereabouts, please contact Wang Yin at 158 1011 6997 or Yang Wei 159 0222 1464.
The call for help spread through WeChat groups on the afternoon of October 25. We will update this blog as we learn more information.
