Knife Skills & Street Food (A) Cooking Class
The Hutong has got two awesome family-friendly events going on this Saturday: first up is a class all about getting familiar with the Chinese cleaver. The class will include knife safety and hands-on techniques that you can use to create three delicious dishes, but it is best suited to older kids and teens. Then in the afternoon, they are running their popular Street Foods class: learn how to make Sichuan mung bean tofu salad with cucumber, Jianbing, and Yunnan rice noodle soup, an event that will be great for kids of all ages.

“Havoc in Heaven” Life Puppet Show
If your kids haven’t been introduced to the Monkey King, then now is definitely the time! Adapted from the first seven chapters of the Chinese classic Journey to the West, 大闹天宫 dà nào tiāngōng or “Havoc in Heaven” as it’s known in English is a beloved story for kids and adults alike and will be performed in a live puppet show this Saturday at China Puppet Theatre in Chaoyang District. This performance will be entirely in Chinese but even if your kids don’t speak it well, they can get plenty of enjoyment from watching the vivid traditional puppetry.

Strawberry Picking & Trampoline Paradise
Spring is nearly here, which means we’re entering fruit picking season! This Saturday, Zunfeng Outdoor is taking families on a double whammy day trip: firstly visiting a Shunyi strawberry picking farm, then visiting the gigantic Meimao Trampoline Park, which also includes ball pits, rock climbing walls, and more. This is a Chinese language organizer, so while some English may be spoken it’s not guaranteed. The price of the ticket doesn’t include meals, strawberries picked (RMB 30 per 500g) or trampoline socks (RMB 15).

Chocolate Easter Egg Decoration
Throughout March, Domain restaurant at EAST Hotel will be teaching little ones how to decorate beautiful and delicious chocolate Easter eggs. This is a no-brainer, just bring them down and hand them off to the Domain restaurant experienced chefs for an hour while they go crazy with the fondant. For expert-level parenting points, plan a family brunch at the fantastic FEAST buffet beforehand.
