I love St. Paddy’s Day! I don’t need to entertain long-lost relatives, untangle lights, buy gifts or pretend I want to be someone’s valentine. I am required to rock my favorite color, have an excuse to veer away from my lesson plan in favor of taking the class on a leprechaun scavenger hunt and no one looks sideways at me for enjoying an adult beverage after I clock out in the middle of the work week.
In honor of this auspicious semi-holiday I would share a little St Patrick’s day spirit with my Beijing Friends. I give you my recipe for shamrock shakes. Enjoy!!!
Kid-Friendly Ingredients:
- 2 Scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream
- 3-5 Oreo Cookies
- ¼ cup milk
- Green Food Coloring
Grown-Up add ins:
- Rum, Kahlua, Crème Di Menth (or anything else that will help you see fairies!)
Directions:
- Put the Oreos in a plastic Ziploc bag and let the kids crush them up! Or if you have a blender use it to mix all ingredients together. Pour into a cup.
- If you don’t have a blender just add the remaining ingredients to the bag of crushed Oreos. Ensure excess air has been released and the seal is tight, and have the kids squish it as fast as they can. Once it is mixed snip off one end of the bag and have them squeeze the green yumminess into a cup.
Told you it was easy!
