It isn’t quite summertime, but we’re all looking forward to a little rest after the tumultuous year and a half that’s past. Some families treat summer like a lazy time, others as the fourth semester of school, but we all know that come July, some kind of break from the norm is in order. That’s where here we at Jingkids come in, ready to rock your scheduling world with these summer camp highlights. Each week we’ll go behind the scenes of a camp so you can make the right choice for your family.
Mountain Camp by Imagine
The mission of Imagine camps is “Inspiring Development through Action and Adventure,” with the core belief that adventure is a vital part of growing up. Pete Tupper, Founder and Director of Imagine Camps, is very passionate about the camps’ goals, even going so far as to merge three locations into one road trip for “a chance to feel a world away from Beijing, experiencing three separate types of adventure sports in wildly different scenery and terrain, without needing to travel too far,” he says, emphasizing how “Enduring and overcoming new challenges outdoors with other people is one of the best ways of creating strong, trusting bonds with them! As part of a big group of like-minded adventurous kids, it’s a week of non-stop socializing. As the group stays overnight for the entire trip, they will feel like they’ve known each other forever by the end!”

Action Movie Summer Camp with Flips & Kicks Plus and Jackie Chan’s Stunt Team
Coach Fredrik Yderstrom is very happy that he is able to renew this action stunt camp, as it was canceled in December due to Covid-19 concerns. He describes the camp as an exercise in developing body awareness, balance training, coordination, safety, basic stunt training, movie set etiquette, and socializing.
As Yderstrom describes it: “In movies, it’s important to be able to adapt and each sport and martial arts has its own specialty and flavor. We want the participants to be able to learn, see, and feel the differences between the different martial arts. For stunts, falling techniques are very important both off and onscreen. That will be the base, then safety and etiquette when filming. From that, we move over to body reactions, basic wirework, and also basic gun control [Editor’s note: not using real guns]. They will also learn how a green screen works. They also get to meet the Jackie Chan stunt team, and that in itself is quite a cool experience.”
Flips & Kicks divides the day between training, stunt training, and fun and games. Socializing is as important to the camp as bodywork, and as such, they only allow minimum sugar and no video games or phones during camp.
