MyOASIS: Down-A-Pint at a Bloody Good Festival
Ready to have a bloody good time for a bloody good cause? This Saturday, to celebrate their 9th anniversary, Oasis International Hospital is organizing a community blood drive. Come along and donate blood and plasma, and check out the goodie bags and free food that Hulu and Tesla have prepared along with the festivities celebrating Oasis’ 9th Anniversary and your contribution to the community.

If you’ve been missing your usual jaunt to Thailand since the coronavirus struck, then this whopping two-day festival is for you! This Saturday and Sunday, the Thai Ambassador’s Residence in Beijing is throwing its doors open for a fabulous celebration of Thai culture. Enjoy live music and dance performances, shop Thai products, handicrafts and even enjoy services like Thai massage with special discounts, and of course a dizzying array of delicious Thai street food. Be sure to register you and your family early.

This Saturday is Earth Day, and the Rotary Club of Beijing East is inviting you to join them in a special half-day of communal tree planting. Come and get your hands dirty and make a positive difference. Kids are welcome, so scan the QR code to sign up.

Kid’s Club Hike: The Silver Pagodas
This Saturday, join the Beijing Hikers for a great kid-friendly hike through field trails and paths from a small village over to the Silver Pagodas, a set of five well-preserved 600-year-old pagodas that are the remains of a Buddhist temple that previously existed on the site. It consists of about 4-6km walking in short sections, done over 2-3 hours, and includes a picnic stop. A fun pagodas worksheet will also be supplied to keep everyone entertained.
Pickup from 7.45am. Silver Pagodas. RMB 150 for kids, RMB 325 for adults.
Candle X Dog-Friendly Picnic at Dong Ba Park
This Saturday Candle X is hosting a fabulous dog-friendly picnic at Dong Ba Park among the beautiful spring blossoms. Raising funds for their Pre-treatment Guidance Project, the day will include a gorgeous afternoon out picnicking, storytelling, and meeting other furry families. Plus, there’s a second-hand dog item exchange, and tasty treats by NAKED Nut Butters to be won. Places are limited, so be sure to register early.

Make Your Own Jianbing Workshop
Mmmm… who doesn’t love a tasty jianbing (or three?). At this workshop, you will learn about both the history of Beijing’s favorite street food, and how to make this delicious savory pancake with your choice of fillings, ranging from traditional Chinese ingredients and fun western flavors like cheese, bacon, and more!

Italian Kindergarten in Beijing Open Day
This Saturday, the accredited Italian Kindergarten in Beijing is hosting an Open Day from 10am to 4pm. If you’ve got kids between 2.5 and 5 years old, you’re invited to come down and visit the school, meet the teachers, learn about the curriculum, and enjoy some of the fun children’s activities that have been planned. From May 1-3, The Hutong is hosting a MasterChef Culinary Camp for kids aged 8-12. Each day, kids learn step-by-step about the basics of flavor and spices to cooking full-fledged dishes and coming up with their own menus. No cooking experience necessary – total beginners or budding chefs are both welcome!
