We came, we ate, we drank, we donated! Our first ever Cocktails for A Cause event to support The Library Project was a sold-out success! More than RMB 13,000 was raised, and every penny will go to The Library Projet’s Little Seeds project, which creates reading corners in schools and classrooms. A reading corner costs RMB 2,555, so in a single afternoon our community’s efforts helped raise the funds to build five reading corners!
I do want to take a moment to say an individual thank you to the people who so graciously and generously gave their time, money, and energy to this event.
First and foremost, I need to thank Tim and his team from Xian Bar at EAST Beijing. Not only did they provide their beautiful space, but they kept us all happily fed and pleasantly buzzed with their exceptional food and libations, which they donated so that the cost of entry to the event could go directly to the kids at The Library Project.
Some wonderful local businesses also donated raffle prizes that were responsible for almost half of the money raised. TRB Hutong, The Brick Yard, Maria Nauen Creations, Hummingbird Spa, and Elvis Bags all gifted generously.
Erin Luce and Chanel Venter kept the crowd entertained and energized with their beautiful music.
Our Teen Take Over interns stepped up too. Jenny Andrea Avom, Isabella de Azambuja Cao, Caroline He, and Amber Qirsten Ker-Foz all donated their time and enthusiasm, selling raffle tickets and encouraging the patrons to “use their money to make a difference!” The True Run team is very proud of these inspiring young ladies.
Finally, we want to thank everyone who showed up and donated. While this has been a trying year for many of us, expats are an incredibly lucky cohort, and seeing so many people excited to give back was inspiring. Jingkids is proud to serve such an exciting, energetic (and good-looking!) community.
