Kids Club Hike: Gubeikou Wall and adventure playground
Kids as young as 3 can join this day trip, in which the indefatigable Beijing Hikers will take you out to the lovely Gubeikou Great Wall scenic area, where you can take an easy walk up to the towers, then enjoy time exploring the local adventure playground complete with swings, rope swings, see-saws, balance beams, and more. Enjoy a relatively unstructured day so that you and the kids can play, rest, and eat at your own pace.
7.30am, first departure. Bus pickup from Lido and Liangmaqiao. RMB 380 for adults, RMB 180 for kids 6-12, RMB 150 for kids 3-5
Journey to the West: True and False Monkey King – CN language event
You’ve heard of the 16th century Chinese classic novel Journey to the West, but do you know the specific story of the two Monkey Kings? This dynamic and colorful stage play tells the tale of how the Monkey King is challenged by an imposter… who nobody in Heaven or Earth can tell from the real Monkey King. Our hero must stand up bravely to this ne’er-do-well, and hope that by doing so the truth will be revealed.

Harry Potter Potions Party – Online Event
Potions class without Professor Snape breathing down your neck? That sounds perfect! Young Harry Potter fans will love this fun online party, hosted by the India-based children’s education group CueKids. Themed around the magical Harry Potter universe, the workshop includes fun interactive activities that are designed to encourage critical thinking skills.

Learn biology with Yuwen: Respiratory System – Online Event
Take a deep breath…. and dive into the world of the human respiratory system with this fun, creative online workshop. Yuwen Chang, a high school biology teacher based in Taiwain will show kids 5-12 how to turn everyday objects into a super cool model of the respiratory system. The workshop will be conducted in both English and Mandarin, so it’s great for practicing vocabulary. The event is free, but you will need to prepare a few materials in advance, so be sure to check the details and register early.

Samajam Kids Show 2 (Djembe) is coming next weekend, Aug 13-15. Samajam is a kind of interactive musical show, where everybody gets several musical instruments and actually takes part in the performance, which is specifically designed for kids.
