Halloween and all its craze is behind us, but putting our costumes back in the closets doesn’t mean that the capital gets to be set on “rest mode”. There are still plenty of things for you to do, visit and experience this week, and here are a number of events that can be fun for the whole family!
Beijing Lullaby – A Musical Stroll in Dashilar
Take a stroller-friendly musical journey down memory lane in the hutongs and let your toddler participate in interactive songs and musical games. The 90-minute event, organized by Beijing Postcards, will take place on Nov 13, and even though it’s designed for toddlers and their parents, it can be fun for older children too. The musicians will play traditional Chinese rhythms as well as international lullabies while young children and their families explore old hutong alleyways surrounded by music. Tickets can be purchased for RMB 400 for a family of three, and RMB 80 for an additional child. All proceeds will be donated to support children in war.

YCYW Art Carnival
Head over to Daxing for a fun weekend filled with arts, games and music. The YCIW Art Carnival offers an immersive artistic experience to all its visitors and an opportunity to win a souvenir from the YCYW 90th Anniversary Art Carnival pop-up store. The carnival includes 1,000+ student artworks, interactive booths, games, music, workshops and a parent-child Olympics. If you’re up for some fun and games, visit the YCYW Art Carnival this Saturday or Sunday at YWIS Yizhuang Campus. Admission is free.

Mickey: The True Original & Ever Curious Exhibition
If you have yet to visit the must-see, all-age-group-friendly Mickey Mouse exhibition at UCCA Lab, you’ve got less than a week to check it off your to-do list. Featuring interactive artwork that celebrates the most famous mouse, this exhibition will definitely make a great experience for both kids and adults.

Workshop: Sugar Art
If you’ve heard of sugar art you know that it’s an ancient technique of creating art by blowing sugar and painting with it. Cultural Keys will be organizing a workshop where you can learn more about the culture of sugar art on Nov 13 at their culture center in Xiaopu Village in Tongzhou. It will include an introductory presentation in English, a private workshop with all materials, snacks, tea and a dumpling dinner (meat and vegetarian dumplings). At the end of the workshop, you will be able to take your creations home. The workshop is suitable for adults and kids 8 and older. All kids aged 12 or younger must be accompanied by a parent.
