Our expat community thrives on connection, and here at jingkids, we’re all about our readers, and what they need and want in order to maximize their time here in Beijing. Today, we will feature a prominent member of our expat community and get to know them a little bit better.
Catherine Belina is a child psychologist, educator, and also an expecting mother with a beautiful two-year old. You may be familiar with her from the parenting workshops that she conducted previously at locations such as Little Oasis. She has been in Beijing for 3 years and recently moved to Wuxi with her parents-in-law to deliver her second child before moving to Nanjing with her husband.
What’s On Your Mind?
I want to keep on developing myself as a psychologist as I am currently pursuing another qualification in psychological education, as well as getting certified in speech pathology. I also want to expand my psychology practice in China.
What’s Your Motivation To Get Moving?
No pain, no gain!
How do you stay sane in all the madness?
Meeting with friends and having intimate conversations with them really helps. I also filter the news and limit how much time I spend reading it.
As a child psychologist, what are some good habits that families can incorporate to cultivate better mental health in 2023?
Learn to enjoy family time and not be afraid of spending time with your children. Take some time and effort to learn more about how a child’s brain works and what drives them to do what seems bizarre to us.
What is your favorite thing about Beijing?
Being in a multinational community and surrounded by so many interesting people from different backgrounds, and being exposed to so many cultural events with different tastes.
As Catherine is expecting her second child soon, she will only be available for online webinars and workshops. She is able to advise on different child-related issues and can be reached on WeChat at psy_cath.
