Sophia Qian is currently the Head of Department of Huijia’s Middle School L.A division, and also a homeroom teacher.
While studying at the University of Southern California, Sophia participated in the ‘Global Creative Leadership Program—Harvard 2019 ’. Both the education and practicum experiences during her studies inspire her in many ways. In the real-world teaching process, she employs a can-do attitude to solving problems.
These days, the thought of “How to maximize the students’ learning to make up for lost time” is not only on the minds of anxious parents and students but also a concern for educators. Sophia proposes that schools should utilize smart technology “to maximize the pockets of time and scaffold students’ learning”. She believes that ‘all successes are made from everyday efforts’. In the past semester, 121 students participated in her program and 93% of students improved their English proficiency, which not only motivated them but also allowed them to advance in other fields of study. Thus, learners can reach their full potential. Armed with the motto, ‘Rome was not built in one day’ Sophia plans to keep growing as an educator.
