Ahmed Z, an 18-year-old student at Pakistani Embassy College Beijing has a passion for S.T.E.M. education and helping children around the world. Along with friends in Pakistan and Vietnam, the rising senior from Islamabad, Pakistan, started a non-governmental organization (NGO) called Stempathy to bring S.T.E.M. education to underprivileged communities. Ahmed’s program is getting ready to launch in Pakistan and Vietnam, with plans to start in Brazil and India as well.
Ahmed has lived in Beijing for 1.5 years but moves around every 2 to 3 years due to his dad’s job in the Pakistani Air Force. His experiences with different cultures have helped him develop an interest in anthropology, which he plans to study in college. Aside from English, he speaks Urdu and a little Chinese.
He is a multi-talented athlete who plays basketball, soccer, and tennis. However, his main sport is swimming, where he specializes in the butterfly stroke. In his free time, Ahmed likes going to concerts and watching movies.
Ahmed has a keen interest in writing, specifically research papers. Through this internship, he hopes to gain more experience in writing, which he believes will assist him in his future career.
