Join a community of innovators on May 18 for a momentous occasion to support the children of Migrant Children Foundation (MCF) and other international schools at the highly anticipated Future Thinkers Award Ceremony. Witness the culmination of a year’s worth of dedication and collaboration between ArkA Design (ArkA) and MCF, as students present their innovative design proposals for a new library to be built in a migrant school.
Under the theme of “Inspire Future Thinkers,“ this event celebrates the passion for design and architecture nurtured through close collaboration with professionals and educators.
It all began on Oct 29 with the inaugural session at ArkA headquarters, made possible by the generous support of sponsors, parents, educators, and MCF volunteers.
During the first Future Thinkers session, students had the privilege of engaging in a video call organized by the Colombian Embassy, featuring Ms. Angela Posada-Swafford, a renowned science writer and journalist. Ms. Posada-Swafford shared captivating insights from her experiences with NASA’s space and astrophysics programs, inspiring children to explore the wonders of the world through reading.
The mentorship program, aimed at fostering high school students’ potential in design and teamwork, challenged five teams to design a library that ignites children’s passion for reading. These teams, comprising international students from prestigious institutions such as the British School of Beijing Shunyi (BSB Shunyi), Beijing City International School (BCIS), Daystar Academy, and the International School of Beijing (ISB), collaborated with MCF students to craft their proposals.
Guided by Michele Lanari, ArkA’s founder, students delved into the design process and creativity through master classes. They then put theory into practice with a hands-on activity led by Julian Amaya, ArkA’s head designer, constructing abstract structures from cardboard.
The program continued bi-weekly until Apr 29, culminating in the selection of the grand winner, whose design will shape the future of a library in one of the schools supported by MCF.
It’s time to come together to celebrate creativity, innovation, and the power of education in shaping tomorrow’s leaders.
