If you’re sticking around the capital city this summer then why not take the two-month-long opportunity to get the kids committed to a martial arts discipline and pick up some useful skills? In this article, we show you some of the best choices for martial arts classes for kids in Beijing.
Karate Classes by the Rhythm Culture Centre (RCC)
Come and join the Rhythm Culture Centre (RCC) on the weekends for a fun-filled and exciting karate class. This interactive and engaging class aims to introduce children to the joys of karate and help them learn to control their body and mind and focus their power and energy in a playful and safe environment.
Following the guidelines set by the internationally renowned Japanese Karate Association (JKA), RCC’s certified instructors teach in a student-centric atmosphere according to the individual needs of each student.
Many children today feel academic and social pressure from a young age and can easily become self-critical and insecure. Karate can relieve daily stress and promote healthy physical, emotional, and cognitive development. It can also improve coordination, balance, and other motor skills, in addition to strength and flexibility. More importantly, karate for kids is fun! It’s important to give kids a space to be creative, invent, and explore their imaginations, and which can help them find themselves.
Kids classes are suitable for kids aged 4 and older, and are conducted in English and Chinese on Monday (5pm), Tuesday (5.45pm), Thursday (5pm), Friday (4.45pm), Saturday (3pm) and Sunday (3.30pm). Scan the QR code in the poster below.

Not many people know of Krav Maga, but it is the official hand-to-hand combat system of the Israeli Defense Forces and popularly regarded as one of the most practical street fighting styles around. Here in Beijing, Krav Maga Global (KMG) certified instructors Jimmy, Amy and Flo lead hour-long kids classes every Sunday.
With classes suitable for all children from the ages of 5 to 14 (separated based on appropriate age groups), the KMG Krav Junior program is considered the most comprehensive self-defense and anti-bullying program available in the world today.
The program covers all aspects of self-defense training for kids and teens, from the physical and technical aspect, to the educational aspect (self-control, violence prevention, stranger danger, functioning under stress, etc.), to simulation training.
