SENIA stands for Special Education Network and Inclusion Association. This nonprofit global network of educators, professionals, and parents who are on a mission to advocate, support, and provide resources to differently-abled individuals. There are more than 25 chapters around the world including one here in Beijing. They provide, newsletters, specialist listings, events, and networking opportunities as well as an active WeChat group to offer support and information. Their upcoming conference on Nov 15 is themed Empowering Inclusion through Strategies, Innovations & Collaboration and promises to be an exciting and educational event.
This year’s keynote speaker is Daniel Sobel.
Daniel Sobel FRSA is a well-known consultant in the field of educational inclusion. He has extensive experience as a teacher, mentor, and SENCO, having worked at Immanuel College, Bushey, and King Solomon High School. In 2014, he founded Inclusion Expert, a company focused on promoting good practices in inclusion across educational settings.
Also making their debut presentation at SENIA is the team behind Project Visionary, a group of Dulwich College Beijing (DCB) students who created a non-profit organization currently within DCB that’s dedicated to bettering the lives of visually impaired teens in China by providing them with a relatable financial literacy book that’s written completely in Braille.
