Beijing Eastbank Academy of Music (BEAM), was Central Conservatory Preparatory School, located in Dongcheng District right at the heart of Beijing, is a professional music school connecting musicians’ dreams with world stages. It is their mission to help the students achieve professional development and gain self-discovery that prepare them for larger stages and allow them to grow into young artists with wisdom, charisma, and versatility.

BEAM offers two music directions: classical and contemporary. The classical program includes voice, instrumental music, composition, and conducting. The contemporary music program includes musical theatre, contemporary voice, contemporary instrumental music, electronic music production, songwriting, film scoring, and more.

In addition to the major applied lessons, BEAM offers an integrated music core curriculum that is a highlight of the school. It has music theory and harmony in both classical and contemporary areas, solfège, music history and appreciation, ensemble, choir, applied minors, and many more. These classes interact among themselves content-wise to help students establish connections among various musical disciplines, and between theory and performance, in order to create an immersive learning experience and build a solid musical foundation that is essential for the students’ lifelong musical pursuit.

Music and Academic courses are equally important at BEAM. Their prestigious faculty from home and abroad ensures that they provide a comprehensive and integrated curriculum to cultivate the students in an all-round fashion. Their music program is professionally designed to meet and exceed the entrance requirements of university-level music institutions worldwide. The academic curriculum includes English courses tailored to the students’ need for their future study plans, Chinese and integrated humanity courses that help the students understand and explore language, history, culture, art, geography, and their identities, and mathematics and science courses to help develop students’ logic and practical abilities.

At BEAM, students’ lives are enriched by a variety of musical activities and events, such as the Hummingbird Music Awards, monthly concerts, master classes, music salons, and musicals. Other activities include theatre festivals, English speech competitions, foreign school visits, and outdoor learning. These platforms allow students to absorb knowledge, showcase their talent, communicate and learn among themselves, and broaden their horizons. BEAM also places a great emphasis on social responsibility, providing students with many volunteer opportunities to serve for meaningful and charitable causes.

BEAM has established strong ties with foreign institutions such as Manhattan School of Music, Berklee College of Music, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Indiana University, Royal Conservatory of Music, University of Southern California, Johns Hopkins University Peabody Institute, and The Colburn School. BEAM invites faculty and recruiting representatives from such schools to speak to our students and conduct interviews on-site on a regular basis.
